Govt sees hand of co-activist in dishonouring woman

The home ministry issued a clarification yesterday explaining the background of a widely published picture of a scuffling woman activist of the Awami League with displaced clothing surrounded by police. It alleged the picture was supplied to the press with an "unholy intention of dishonouring her dignity". "It is condemnable and unfortunate." The ministry said if the photograph was observed attentively, it would be seen that another woman activist was pulling the sari of the troubled woman and policewomen were trying to remove the hand of the second activist from it. It claimed reports carried by some newspapers accusing the police of displacement of the sari and blouse of the woman was not true.
