Kibria enters girls' final

Kibria Ayeda of Naogaon Tennis Club entered the under-16 girls' singles final of the Philips National Tennis Tournament with an easy 6-0, 6-0 victory over Firoza Haque from Narshingdi in the semifinal at the National Tennis Complex yesterday.In the men's singles matches, Amal Roy outplayed Mamun 6-2, 6-0, Laxman Lal beat Mizan 6-3, 6-4, Alamgir overcame Asmat 7-5, 6-1, Dipu defeated babu 6-2, 6-2, Dilip recorded a 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 win over Shah Newaz while Hira Lal beat Ranjan 6-2, 6-2. In the Women's singles, Shifat Nusrat Baishakhy outplayed Naorin Afroz 6-0, 6-0, Shathi Sarkar beat Misty 6-0, 6-0, Mushfiqa beat Reefat 6-3, 6-1 while Ishrat Sultana posted a 6-0, 6-1 win over Morjina. Besides, eleven men's doubles matches and five boys' under-16 singles encounters were also held on the day. The tournament resumes at 8:00am today at the same venue.
