Malaysian Food and Cultural Festival inaugurated


If you want the best of Malaysian food, you ought to try out the food festival that is underway in Dhaka. A Malaysian Food Festival got in progress from September 28.

Pan Pacific Sonargaon, Malaysian Embassy in Dhaka and Malaysian Airlines jointly organizes it.

A large number of people, chiefly the invitees, dressed in their business attires, at the Surma hall room on the premises of the Sonargaon Hotel, waited patiently for the event to begin.

Finally, Marc Schaub, Director of Food & Beverage, Pan Pacific Sonargaon, Dhaka came to presided over the program.

The chief guest State Minister for Civil Aviation & Tourism Mir Mohammed Nasiruddin formally inaugurated the 6-day long celebration; with special guest as Ashaary Bin Sani, Honorary High Commissioner of Malaysia to Bangladesh.

The event marked the launch of the Malaysian Food Festival, which will continue until September 4. The occasion held, is an 'exchange of culture and cuisine through trade and bilateral relationship between the two countries', conveyed both the chief guest and the special guest.

After the audience got a vision from the speakers, the stage suddenly came alive with dancers in bright and colorful costumes who gracefully entertained with traditional Malaysian music. The dance troupe flew in from Kuala Lumpur for daily cultural show during the event. They presented traditional dances, which is popular in Malaysia.

Then it was the authentic Malaysian cuisine to cast the delightful spell. The menu looked quite scrumptious with appetizers namely, Pesembur Penang (Vegetable and Prawn Fritter Salad); Salad Tahu Nyonya (Bean Curd Salad); Serunding Daging (Spiced Beef Floss); Keropok (Fish Crackers) and main course of mouth-watering Beef, Chicken Satay in Shashlik Kebab Sticks topped with various types of gravy sauce.

The sparkling apple, orange and blend of other juices were thirst-quenching cold starters.

Concluding part of the feast was with flavorsome desserts presented as Puding Jagong (Sweet corn Pudding) and Assorted Biskuts Melayu (Malay Cookies).

It was a quite an eventful evening. Food was prepared to suit Bangladeshi taste, the like of food cooked mostly with spicy ingredients the Malay chefs from Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru, Pan Pacific Malaysia demonstrated a proficient expertise.

Though the set of feast were rather unfamiliar to the local appetite, it was worth a visit and discover the new taste.
