Bangladeshi documentary wins South Asian award


The Tale of the Darkest Night, a documentary film depicting the massacre on the night of 25 March 1971, by Kawsar Chowdhury has won the second best prize at the Film South Asia 2003, the 4th edition of the biennial festival of South Asian documentary film festival in Nepal. The awards were declared on September 28.

Out of 230 documentary films from 24 countries, 40 films competed in the contest. Earlier the festival had begun on September 25. The directors of the best three films got awards and cash prizes of US$ 2000, US$ 1000, and US$ 500. The best film will also be conferred with the Ram Bahadur Trophy.

Renowned filmmakers, critics and film connoisseurs all over South Asia attended the festival. Kawsar Chowdhury participated from Bangladesh.
