Ayeda lifts girls' singles title

Kibria Ayeda of Naogaon Tennis Club clinched the under-16 girls' singles title of the Philips National tennis tournament beating Sadiya of BKSP 6-0, 6-0 in the final at the National Tennis Complex yesterday.In the boys' under-16 semifinals, Yusuf Aman beat Delwar 6-2, 6-2 to set a final clash with Ranjan Ram who won the other semifinal 6-1, 6-1 against Pitul. In the men's singles, Amal Roy, Alamgir Hossain, Collins and Hira Lal reached the last four after winning their respective quarterfinals. Amal beat Laxman Lal 6-7, 6-2, 6-0, Alamgir beat Dipu Lal 7-6, 6-2, Collins beat Dilip 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 and Hira Lal posted a 6-4, 6-3 win over Yusuf Aman. In the women's singles, Ishrat Sultana moved into the final with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Mushfiqa Shams. Country's number one seed Baishakhi partnered with Shathi reached the women's doubles final beating Reefat and Naorin pair 6-1, 6-1.
