Propaganda on against Ctg port
CPA chairman tells workshop

Chairman of Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) AMM Shahadat Hossain yesterday said some western countries have been resorting to propaganda against Chittagong Port branding it a hazardous and expensive seaport.

"Compared to other seaports in the world it is not as expensive as they claim," he said while addressing the concluding function of a workshop for journalists on "reporting on port" at the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) auditorium.

The CPA chairman said Chittagong Port is a national property and it should be protected from conspiracies and all sorts of propaganda at any cost. He however stressed "systematic development" for smooth operation of the port.

On establishment of New Mooring container terminal, he said the terminal is expected to go into operation at the end of 2005.

CCCI President Amir Humayun Mahmud Chowdhury inaugurated the workshop.

At the concluding function, the CPA chairman distributed certificates among the participants.

Development Journalists Forum (DJF) and CCCI in co-operation with Bangladesh Institute of Theatre Art (BITA) and Action Aid Bangladesh south-east region jointly organised the workshop attended by 25 journalists of different national and local dailies.
