USAID to promote use of CNG
United States Agency for International Development (USAID) signed two separate agreements with Prime Bank and Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation on September 30 providing US $ 3.5 million as credit to promote the use of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).

The agreement is the first of its kind to support CNG infrastructure anywhere in the world, says a press release.

The credit will facilitate installation of more CNG filling stations and conversion of vehicles. It will also help reduce air pollution and save foreign exchange.

The program is a prime example of the public-private partnership of USAID/Bangladesh in promoting energy sector.

The USAID is also providing technical assistance and training through other mechanisms to encourage greater use of CNG.
