Swedish, Norwegian assistance reassured


Norwegian and Swedish assistance for poverty alleviation, uprooting illiteracy and women's empowerment in Bangladesh would continue in the coming days too.

Swedish Ambassador Aud Lise Norheim and Norwegian Ambassador Borje Mattson reassured this on Sunday while exchanging opinion with local journalists of Pabna following their visit to different project sites of Samata, a Non-governmental Organisation (NGO) at Bishnopur under Santhia upazila.

They expressed their eagerness to continue as development partners with Samata for enhancement of poor people's condition, female education, child health and land reforms and management.

They further told newsmen that they were impressed to observe the struggle of landless for legal share over government Khas lands and increasing production.

They also exchanged opinion with members of the Women's Action Committee, union parishad chairmen and members separately.

The spouse and husband respectively of the envoys of Sweden and Norway, first secretaries of both the embassies accompanied them.
