60 arrested in Chittagong


Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) arrested 60 people on various charges and recovered 197 bottles of contraband phensidyl syrup from different parts of the city during the last 24 hours ending at 6 pm yesterday.

Three persons were arrested for possessing the Indian phensidyl, while 17 other arrestees were absconders and the rest were picked up on various charges under the CMP Act, a CMP press release said.

Doublemooring police arrested three persons and recovered 197 bottles of phensidyl from a private car and rooftop of a building in Chotopool area in the early hours of yesterday.

The arrested are Rezaul Karim alias Samrat, Mohammad Jasim and Abdus Salam, the press release added.
