Teen's death at park
Police file case against Barisal AL leader

The Kotwali police have filed a case against Barisal city Awami League Convener Showkat Hossain Hiron and seven others in connection of the death of a minor girl after she fell from the marry-go-round at the Planet World children park in the city.

The park is owned by the AL leader.

Thirteen year-old Shahina fell from the marry-go-round on September 29 and died at Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital the same evening.

The seven others are Salauddin Faruki, Shaid, Sohrab, Selim, Khusbu, Rana Kabir and Babul, all staff of the park.

The case was filed by ASI Abdul Halim under Section 304(A) of CRPC.

All the accused were granted 20 days' interim bail when they surrendered before the court of District Judge Sudhendu Kumar Das.

In the case, the complainant said the accident took place due to poor maintenance of the park and negligence of the staff.

Activists of Jubo Dal, youth front of ruling BNP, brought out a procession on September 30 in the city demanding punishment of the persons responsible for the death of Shahina.

The local AL said the case was lodged to harass Hiron.
