Three shot by robbers at Jurain


Three people were shot by robbers in the city's Jurain area last night.

The injured -- Nazim, Sharif and Manik -- are now undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

Police said a gang of six robbers entered the houses of Jalal and Sujon, both rickshawpullers, near Nurani Mosque in east Jurain at 7:45pm and demanded money and gold ornaments. As the poor families failed to meet the demand, the robbers pointed their country-made guns at them.

Hearing screams of the inmates, local people rushed to the scene.

Seeing presence of the locals, the robbers opened fire, injuring Nazim, Sharif and Manik with bullets.The gang managed to flee .

Police failed to arrest anyone till writing of this report at 11:30 last night.
