Bangladesh 'two' good for Kyrgyzstan

The Bangladesh under-17 football team had one foot in the finals in Japan when they blanked Kyrgyzstan 2-0 in the home leg of their Asian under-17 qualifiers at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Saturday.

Jahid Hossain put the Bangladeshis ahead with a brilliant header in the 27th minute while Hirak Joarder's solo effort in the 73rd minute sealed the match.

The away leg will also be held at the same venue at 5 pm today with a draw or a 0-1 defeat good enough for Bangladesh to advance to the final round in Japan next year.

Bangladesh coach Shahidur Rahman Chowdhury Shantoo said after the match that he was not happy with the way his team played and believed that they should have won by a bigger margin.
