Lawyers form human chain on SC premises


Lawyers formed a human chain on the Supreme Court premises yesterday as part of their month-long agitation to press home its demands.

The demands include separation and independence of judiciary and repeal of amendments to the civil procedure code and the Bar Council order.

The lawyers staged the demonstration under the banner of Six-point Demand Implementation Committee of Lawyers.

They urged the government to meet their demands immediately and put an end to controversial appointments superseding senior judges.

SC Bar Association Vice-President Advocate Subrata Chowdhury, Secretary Mahbub Ali, Barrister Showkat Ali Khan, Abdul Baset Majumder, Abdul Matin Khosru, SS Halder, Yusuf Hossain Humayun, Mohammad Ullah, Sheikh Mohammad Morshed, Mohammad Abdul Hye, Mohammad Nuruzzaman Khan Hiru, Mohammad Giasuddin Ahmad, Nizamul Haq Nizam, Syed Ahmed and Shamsul Haq Tuku joined the programme.
