Saifur's wife buried


Durre Samad Rahman, wife of Finance Minister M Saifur Rahman, was buried at her family graveyard at Baharmardan in Moulvibazar district yesterday.

The first namaz-e-janaza of Durre Samad was held at Gulshan central mosque in Dhaka yesterday morning. The Speaker, cabinet and parliament members, political leaders, diplomats and high military and civil officers attended the janaza.

Her second namaz-e-janaza was held on the mazar premises of Hazrat Shahjalal (R) in Sylhet after Zohr prayers. The relief minister, the foreign minister and a large number of people took part in the janaza.

Her third namaz-e-janaza was held at Old Stadium in Moulvibazar after Asr prayers. State Minister for Education Ehsanul Haque Milon, Chief Whip of Opposition Abdus Shahid, Whip Fazlul Haque Aspia and FBCCI President Abdul Awal Mintoo, among others, attended the janaza.

Qulkhwani of Durre Samad will be held at her Baharmardan residence on Thursday and at Gulshan central mosque on Friday after Asr prayers, said an official handout.

BSS adds: Leader of the Opposition in Parliament and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina yesterday expressed deep shock at the death of Durre Samad Rahman.

In separate messages, the Doctors Association of Bangladesh and the Dhaka-Rajshahi Customs, Excise and VAT Executive Officers' Association also expressed condolence at the death of Durre Samad Rahman.
