4 cops suspended for letting alleged 'criminal' flee

Four police personnel in Kushtia were suspended for neglect of duty and making way for an alleged criminal to escape hospital while in police custody.Havilder Fakir Uddin and constables Delwar Hossain, Shamsul Huda and Tanzinur Rahman were suspended as they were absent during duty hours. They were posted at Kushtia General Hospital where Yeanim, an outlawed party cadre, was under treatment in police custody as locals of Harinarayanpur Bazaar in Sadar upazila caught and beat him on October 21. Yeanim fled under the cover of dark finding the on-duty police personnel absent, hospital sources said.
