Clarification
MA Muhaimin Saleh, president of the Association of Travel Agents of Bangladesh (Atab), has clarified a report carried by The Daily Star on October 13 under the headline "Fare plight in Hajj flight."Saleh said he did not make any derogatory remark on Biman's agreement with Saudi Arabian Airlines for operating Hajj flights. "I never commented that the agreement was mysterious and was sacrificing interest of local travel agents and benefiting a foreign airline and that some civil aviation ministry and Biman officials might be getting lucrative packages from Saudi Arabian Airlines for extending the restrictions into this year," he said. He claimed that his comment was misquoted in the report, which has damaged his personal relations with those authorities. Atab has a cordial relationship with officials of the civil aviation ministry, Biman Bangladesh Airlines and Saudi Arabian Airlines, he said.
