Barisal police fan out to keep order
40 check posts, mobile teams during Ramadan

Barisal police have taken some measures to improve law and order and maintain smooth traffic during the Ramadan.Forty check posts have been set up at different points in the divisional headquarter and in nine upazilas in the district. Six check posts have been set up in Barisal city, also to be patrolled by 10 mobile teams. The rest of the check posts have been set up in upazilas. Police sources said the six check posts in the city at Launch Ghat, Shipping Ghat, Dapdapia, Laharhut Ferry Ghat, Rupatali and Nathullabad Bus terminal are manned by 22 police officers and 50 constables. More 20 officers and 50 constables are on patrol duty in the city. Thirty-six officers and 132 constables are on duty at the 34 check posts in the nine upazilas. Five check posts have been set up in Bakerganj; four each in Banaripara, Babuganj and Uzirpur; six in Gournadi and three each in Agailjhara, Muladi, Mehendiganj and Hizla upazilas. Police said, all suspected people and goods are being checked at these points. Talking to this correspondent, Barisal Police Superintendent Md Mohsin said every year some pre cautionary steps are taken some days before the Eid. This year strong police vigilance will be maintained throughout the Ramadan.
