Disabled help themselves

Disabled Peoples Organisation for Development (MDPOD), a body of disabled persons in the district, in cooperation the district administration has given five wheel chairs to five disabled persons and ten white canes to ten blind people.These were distributed at a function held recently at NDPOD office at Rouhadah village in the Sadar upazila. Manikganj Deputy Commissioner M Abdul Bari, other officials, media representatives and MDPOD office bearers were present at the simple function. MDPOD Chairman Syeda Akter Deiji was in the chair. MDPOD, set up in 1998, has 75 members. All its office bearers are also disabled. Speaking on the occasion, the office bearers said disabled people can be self-reliant with a little help from the society.
