Mashrafee might be fit in a week

Injured fast bowler Mashrafee-bin-Mortuza returned to Chittagong last evening after having a second MRI done at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka yesterday.

The 20-year-old from Narail, who had already gone through a series of injures since breaking into the international stage as the country's fastest bowler three year ago, twisted his right knee while bowling in England's second innings in the Chittagong Test on Friday afternoon.

Although Mashrafee had his first MRI at a private clinic in the port city on the same day, the 'Narail Express' came to the capital on Sunday morning for the second MRI.

However the result of the test could not be known from anybody in the Bangladesh Cricket Board including the bowler himself.

"I know nothing about the report. I have been told that the report will be sent to physio John Gloster," said Mashrafee over his cell phone from Zia International Airport.

But it seems that Mashrafee's injury is not a serious one this time and he is likely to be fit after a week's rest.

According to a Bangla newspaper on Saturday, the England team doctor saw the report of the first MRI in Chittagong and said that the injury was not serious.
