BNP men swoop on police camp for SI's non-cooperation

At least 50 armed cadres allegedly of the ruling BNP attacked a police camp at Kalidashpur in Daulatpur upazila in the district yesterday because the camp in-charge refused to be subservient to them.Police and eyewitnesses said Jamal Uddin Dulal, a local BNP leader and also chairman of Aria union parishad in Daulatpur, led the armed group in an attack on the police camp at around 11:00am. The mob threw brickbats into the camp and demanded immediate termination of camp in-charge Sub-inspector (SI) Mashiur Rahman. Police fired six blank shots to disperse the unruly men. Police said Dulal earlier threatened to punish the SI for his noncompliance. There were no report of casualties. A general diary was recorded.
