Transport leader killed in Bogra

A transport leader was shot and sliced to death by his rivals at the Chelo bus-terminal yesterday.

Maniruzzaman Manik, 35, was a bus owner and executive member of the Bogra Motor Sramik Union.

Some armed men shot at Manik following an altercation between the transport leaders at about 10:00am.

"As he fell to the ground after being bullet-hit, the miscreants indiscriminately stabbed him, leaving him dead on the spot," said witnesses.

Traffic on the Bogra-Shariakandi and Bogra-Majhira routes came to a halt and all business establishments in and around the terminal area were closed after the violence.
