BGMEA team meets NU vice chancellor

A delegation of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers & Exporters Association (BGMEA) led by its Acting President SM Nurul Hoque paid a courtesy call on National University Vice-chancellor Professor Aftab Ahmed at the latter's office in Gazipur yesterday.

They discussed matters relating to courses offered by the BGMEA Institute of Fashion and Technology (BIFT) on garment manufacturing management, pattern, cutting and design, merchandising, production management and quality control.

BFTI was founded in 1999 with affiliation from the National University (NU) with a view to improve designs and patterns of products to attract more foreign buyers. It offers honours and certificate courses to the students from home and abroad.

The BGMEA acting president told the NU vice chancellor that certificates on several courses were given to 24 Nigerian students of the first foreign students' batch of BIFT on the institute's Chittagong campus recently.

NU Pro-VC Prof Khalilur Rahman, Acting Chairman of BIFT governing body Ferdaus Amin, Vice-president SM Emdadul Islam and BIFT Principal Jafrul Karim were included in the delegation.
