UGC ban on recruitment Token strike by RU teachers

Rajshahi University teachers observed strike on Saturday protesting the restrictions on recruitment of teachers and staff in public universities imposed by the University Grant Commission (UGC).RU Teachers Association (RUTA) called the strike. The teachers did not do any administrative work but took examinations, sources said. RUTA is demanding cancellation of the UGC ban on recruitment and promotion in universities, claiming this is intervention in the autonomy of the institutions.
