Tender on subway feasibility study next month


International tender will be floated next month for feasibility study on underground metro railway in the capital city, Communications Minister Nazmul Huda said yesterday.

The minister sought technical assistance from Moscow when Russian Ambassador Oleg S Malginov called on him at his office.

In response, Malginov said private investing institutions of his country and the government would like to support infrastructure development in Bangladesh through a consortium.

Huda informed the ambassador that underground metro train lines would be constructed on the basis of BOT (build, operate and transfer).

The ambassador welcomed the plan and assured the minister of his country's possible assistance to implement it.
