Internal buyers active at Ctg tea sale
UNB, Chittagong
The weekly tea sale held here yesterday was the last in the month of Ramadan where internal buyers were the mainstay of the market particularly the blenders whilst there was fair enquiry from Pakistan.Naturally buyers were more particularly whereby clean varieties sold fairly well particularly the smaller brokens and clean fannings at fully firm to often dearer rates. Withdrawals were heavier this week, according to the Tea Market Report. Good liquoring CDs were a dearer market. There will be no sale next week owing to Eid holidays. CTC Leaf: 22,818 g/s, 2,606 ppws, 1,454 c/s, 90 p/s (50 g/s of old session) on offer met with a fairly good demand. Brokens: A small weight of well made brokens were strongly firm to dearer and these ranged between Tk 79.50 and Tk 74. Medium brokens were a fair market and were generally a little easier particularly the plainer varieties with some withdrawals. Smaller brokens specially the neater types were strongly competed for and were dearer by upto Tk 1 to Tk 2 whilst the remainder were short firm. Poor plan types continued to be neglected and where sold recorded a discount. There were heavy withdrawals in this variety. Fannings: Clean made fannings were a strong feature and were fully firm and sold between Tk 68 and Tk 70.30. Medium were a good market and were about steadily. Poorer types were easier with a large quantum remaining unsold. CTC Dust: 2,678 g/s, 291 c/s, 351 ppws and (47 g/s of old season) on offer met with a fairlygood demand. Better liquoring CDs and sold well and were a dearer market advancing by upto Tk 5 following competition. A few good liquoring RDs/Ds also sold well and were fully firm to slightly dearer whilst others eased slightly following quality. Plainer sorts were once again neglected. Internal market lent fairly good support.
