The appointment was given on the basis of the results of the examination and recommendations of the commission, an official handout said yesterday.

Of the total, 285 were appointed in administration cadre, 17 in audit and account cadre, 17 in customs and excise cadre, 12 in food cadre, 22 in family planning cadre, eight in foreign affairs cadre, 11 in information cadre, 48 in police cadre, nine in postal cadre, four in railway cadre, 15 in railway engineering cadre, 15 in taxation cadre, four in trade cadre, 59 in agriculture cadre, 10 in economic cadre, 994 in education cadre, 22 in fisheries cadre, 30 in forest cadre, 523 in health cadre, 38 in health (dental) cadre, 27 in public works cadre, 17 in roads and highways cadre and 39 in telecommunications cadre.

The authorities are sending appointment cards to the permanent addresses of the successful candidates by registered mail.

The qualified candidates who will not receive the letters by December 7 have been asked to call at 7172343 in the the ministry of establishment.

They are also requested to join their respective ministries or departments by December 10 next, the handout said.
