16 launches, 53 cargo vessels fined

Sixty-nine passenger launches and cargo vessels have been fined Tk 7.5 lakh during the on-going drive against faulty vessels in the past week. Sixteen passenger launches were fined as they did not have safety equipment for the passengers and up-to-date survey documents. The rest are cargo vessels. The drive was conducted at Dhaka Sadarghat Launch Terminal and Chittagong port area from November 7 to 15. A passenger launch, M V Darbar, was also seized for failing to produce valid documents.
