Grooming of honest people a must to cut crime: B Chy

Former president Prof AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury yesterday stressed the need for grooming honest people to free Bangladesh from the vicious nexus of crime and corruption.

"It's true that crime and corruption are thriving unabatedly in the country and it is not possible to erase the nexus in a traditional way. We need to build lakhs of good people," he said at the launch of Dhaka Mission Palli School and Technical College at Alif Housing at north Adabar in Shyamoli.

Chaired by former chief election commissioner and president of the Mission Welfare Trust and School management committee Justice Abdur Rouf, the function was also addressed by Peer of Furfura Sharif Hazrat Moulana Abul Ansar Mohammad Abdul Fahhar Siddiqi, former chairman of Comilla Education Board Mobarak Ali Akandh, former director general of primary education Abdul Aziz Chowdhury, local BNP leader Abul Hashem and principal of the school Humayun Kabir, among others.

The former president said the education system was facing serious problems, but no initiative was taken to resolve the crisis. Students roam the campus with arms in pocket, he observed.
