Police said, four female muggers intercepted a rickshaw near the Chittagong Club area in the city at around 8pm and snatched at dagger point a cell phone and money from the lone rickshaw passenger.

Afterwards, they shouted for help holding the passenger and identified himself as mugger. They also beat up the young passenger saying that he mugged them.

In the mean time many people gathered there.

But the innocent youth convinced the crowd that the female muggers were cheating them.

At this stage the mob caught two of them red- handed. They beat up one of them while the other was saved as patrol police rushed there while two others escaped.

Kotwali police admitted the fact and said female muggers have become active ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
