"Bihar has had extremely cordial relations not only with Assam but also with other states of the region," he said. "I will take a delegation of MPs to ease tension between the two old friends."

Though Laloo had not chalked out the itinerary, he confirmed his visit to Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Monday. Laloo also assured adequate security to all passengers from the Northeast during their train journey through Bihar.

Laloo has already acceded to the Assam government's request for a CBI probe. Assam had sought either a CBI probe or a judicial inquiry into the incidents "in view of the hurt sentiments of the Assamese".
