Ahmedul Kabir's death condoled


Prime Minister Khaleda Zia has expressed deep shock at the death of Ahmedul Kabir, a journalist, intellectual and politician, who died in Kolkata yesterday.

In a condolence message, Khaleda Zia recalled the role of Ahmedul Kabir in various fields and said the nation has lost a great politician and intellectual.

She conveyed her sympathy to the members of the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.

Leader of the Opposition in parliament and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina has also expressed her deep shock at the demise of Ahmedul Kabir, an eminent editor and politician.

In a message of condolence, she said "I am shocked at the death of Ahmedul Kabir, who always fought for people's legitimate rights and democracy."

Sheikh Hasina prayed for the salvation of the departed soul and conveyed her sympathy to the members of the bereaved family.

Others, who condoled the death of elderly journalist and pioneer editor in country's newspaper arena Ahmedul Kabir, included Information Minister Tariqul Islam, Mayor of Dhaka City Corporation Sadeque Hossain Khoka, Workers' Party President Rashed Khan Menon and General Secretary Bimol Biswas, Convenor of Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal Khalequzzaman, Dhaka Union of Journalist President Abdul Jalil Bhuyian and General Secretary Omar Faruk, Bangladesh Parliament Journalists' Association President Shahjahan Sardar and General Secretary Ashis Shaikat and Commonwealth Journalists Association's international President Hassan Shahriar and its Bangladesh chapter President Farid Hossain.
