BCS English exam
Few questions match with 'leaked' ones

The General English (Compulsory) exam of the 24th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) was held yesterday but the question paper did not match with the paper sold in Dhaka and elsewhere as leaked ones except a few questions.

Two essays and four short questions matched with the reportedly leaked questions collected from different sources before the written test.

In the question paper, examinees have been asked to answer one essay out of four and five short questions out of seven.

Dismissing the leakage of question papers as rumour, Professor Hasanuzzaman Chowdhury, a member of the Public Service Commission, said some questions might have matched with the suggestions of the BCS examinees.

Some of the examinees who collected 'leaked questions' said they found some similar questions in the original question paper.

Some examinees also collected 'leaked English questions' on Monday night while many other did not sit for the English exam as 'leaked questions' did not match with the original one in the Bangla exam.

Hand written photocopies of 'leaked questions' of all five compulsory subjects of the BCS written tests -- Bangla, English, international affairs, mathematics and general science -- were sold at as much as Tk 5,000 at different educational institutions and dormitories in the city and elsewhere in the last few days.

Some 47,000 examinees are vying for about 4,500 cadre service posts. The examinations are being held at different centres in Dhaka, Chittagong, Rajshahi and Khulna and at one centre in London simultaneously.

The PSC cancelled the 24th BCS preliminary test held on February 28 over allegations of question leaks and held the test again on August 8 amid allegations of leaks.
