Home ministry rejoinder to UNB report
The home ministry in a rejoinder on a UNB report run by The Daily Star headlined "Govt probing third force links to arms cache recovery", which other newspapers also carried on December 1, dismissed that the home minister made such a comment either at the said venue or any other place.A UNB report quoted Home Minister Altaf Hossain Chowdhury as saying that the government was probing whether the so-called third force has any links with the arms cache recovered from Kuril, Badda. "We are investigating whether there is any link with the so-called third force or any design to destabilise the country," the news agency quoted him as saying at the office of the deputy commissioner of police (north zone). The rejoinder said no UNB journalist was present at the said venue. The ministry termed the news item false and deplored its publication as unethical, irresponsible and devoid of professional honesty. The ministry asked the UNB to seek apology.
