USTC to reopen December 8

Classes of the University of Science and Technology, Chittagong (USTC) will resume on December 8 after a 50-day of unscheduled closer. The decision to reopen the university and its hospital was taken following a fruitful meeting between the university authorities and the agitated student, teachers and doctors. The meeting was held recently after the intervention of Commerce Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury. The syndicate of the university in an emergency meeting held in the capital on November 30 decided to reopen the university. However, the teachers threatened to go on work abstention if the authorities do not reinstate six of their colleagues. The authorities declared the institution closed sine die on October 19 in the wake of a tough movement launched by the teachers, students and doctors of the university.
