Top civil admin posts reshuffled


The government yesterday reshuffled some top posts in the civil administration.

Agriculture Secretary Aiyub Kadri was appointed water resources secretary and Jute Secretary ASM Abdul Halim was appointed agriculture secretary.

Chairman of Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation (BADC) Abdur Rahim was transferred to the jute ministry as acting secretary and Additional Secretary Abdul Aziz, officer on special duty (OSD), was appointed to the Planning Commission as acting member.

Additional Secretary Mohammad Haider Ali was transferred to Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation as its chairman.

Additional Secretary (OSD) Abu Noki Rezoanul Haq was appointed to the parliament secretariat in the same rank.

Additional Director General (current charge) of Water Development Board Khaleda Shahrier Kabir was appointed as director general of the board on a one-year contract.

She is currently on a leave preparatory to retirement.

Chairman of Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation Taimur Alam Khandaker has been given a one-year extension to his contractual appointment.

The shakeup also took place at the joint secretary level: Afzal Hossain was transferred from the defence ministry to the jute ministry, MM Iftekhar-e-Alam from the jute ministry to the education ministry, Salahuddin Mohammad Musa (OSD) to the planning ministry, Nazmul Huda Khan from the commerce ministry to the BADC as member, Mohammad Alimushwan from the home ministry to the defence ministry, Tofazzal Hossain (OSD) to the information ministry and Didarul Anwar from Bangladesh Export Processing Zone Authority to the establishment ministry as OSD.

The reshuffle also included the transfer of a host of deputy secretaries.
