The parliamentary standing committee on the home ministry has decided to hold a meeting with all the ministries concerned and parliamentary standing committees to find out ways to improve traffic management in the city. The committee took the decision yesterday at a meeting held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban. The committee also asked Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) to take allout measures to improve traffic management in the city. The DMP in its report submitted to the committee identified causes for the severe traffic jam. "Insufficient roads, huge numbers of vehicles, unplanned bus stop and bus stands, 20 railway crossings and multi-storied complexes without parking facilities are the main causes for the traffic jam," said the DMP report. The meeting also discussed border conflicts. However, the committee did not discuss the deteriorating law and order in the city. Abdul Mannan, chairman of the committee, presided over the meeting in which committee members and officials concerned were present.
