Proceedings against Aziz Bhai, Banti stayed

The High Court yesterday stayed for six months the proceedings of film star Sohel Chowdhury murder case against Aziz Mohammad Bhai and Banti Islam pending with the Speedy Trial Tribunal, Dhaka. The order came upon a petition filed by Aziz Bhai and Banti. Sohel was gunned down in the city in December 1998 A division bench of Justice Mohammad Awlad Ali and Justice Mohammad Miftah Uddin Chowdhury had earlier issued a rule upon the government to that end. Barrister Shawkat Ali Khan appeared for the petitioners.
