Aftab quits U-19 camp?
Sports Reporter
Promising batsman Aftab Ahmed didn't join the Bangladesh Under-19 camp since it resumed at the BKSP on November 15 after the Pakistan tour. The right-hand opener from Chittagong, who was called up to play in the first Test against England, was reportedly unhappy. One of his teammates on condition of anonymity told The Daily Star Sport yesterday that he was annoyed after being dropped before the game against India in the recently concluded Asia Youth Cup. The player added that maybe because Aftab had recently fallen out with skipper Nafees Iqbal it prompted him to quit the camp all of a sudden. But Khandakar Jamil Uddin, member secretary of the BCB development committee, dismissed Aftab's disappearance as a rumour. "He didn't join the camp because he wants do well in the SSC examinations. He failed twice." Chairman of the junior selection committee Jahangir Shah Badsha refused to comment on the matter.
