Emirates sponsors website for WC preliminary draw

Dubai-based Emirates Airline has reinforced its commitment to its four-year involvement in the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany, by becoming title sponsor of the website for the preliminary draw for the qualifying rounds.

And, in a move that's sure to attract some 60 million visitors to the site, Emirates has come up with the innovative new idea of giving away -- via the internet -- the first VIP tickets for the opening ceremony and match in Munich on 9th June 2006.

On 5th December, football fans can follow the draw for the qualifying rounds live on www.fifa.com or www.fifaworldcup.com and have the chance of winning this fantastic prize not otherwise available for purchase.

Six times Formula One World Champion Michael Schumacher and a team of celebrities from the world of sport will be making the draw.

While the site is open until the end of March, the competition closes on 15th January 2004.

Emirates is one of the Official Partners of the 2006 FIFA World Cup, joining adidas, Avaya, Budweiser, Coca-Cola, Continental, Deutsche Telekom, Hyundai, McDonald's Philips, Toshiba and Yahoo!

Emirates' Chairman, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum, said: "Emirates is very pleased to be an Official Partner of the 2006 World Cup Germany and to have this opportunity to sponsor the website.
