Agargaon murders Conflict over drugs suspected

Police are yet to ascertain the motive behind Monday's double murders at Agargaon but suspect internal conflict over drugs business might have led to the killings.

Anwar Hossain alias Montu and Rezaul Karim gunned down behind IDB Bhaban, were members of a gang of drug peddlers, OC of Mohammadpur Police Station Abdul Malek said.

A weekly magazine staff's identity card was found in Anwar's pocket, whom police identified as a professional cheat.

A police official said Anwar was an informant of the Detective Branch (DB) of police and helped in the recent seizure of 3,500 bottles of phensidyl from Tejgaon.

Other operatives of the gang might have avenged the incident by killing Anwar and his friend Rezaul.

Anwar's wife Nazma Begum filed a case with Mohammadpur Police Station.

Police could not arrest anybody till 8:00pm yesterday.
