PM hands over Sports Award


Prime Minister Khaleda Zia yesterday asked all concerned to rethink whether it was wise sending teams or players abroad to competitions without attaining a minimum level standard.

She made the suggestion while honouring six sportsmen and an organizer for their contribution to the development of country's sporting arena.

At a function held at the International Conference Centre, the Prime Minister handed an 18-carat gold medal and a certificate to each of the recipients of the National Sports Award 2003.

State Minister for Youth and Sports Fazlur Rahman also spoke at the function attended by a large number of eminent sportsmen and sports organisers of the country.

Salam Murshedi, Kaiser Hamid (football), Jahangir Shah Badshah and Aminul Islam (cricket), Mahbub Alam (athletics), Senior Warrant Officer M Abdus Salam (swimming).
