He also stressed cooperation in the field of education, particularly in higher education, when newly appointed Ambassador of Qatar Ibrahim Mohamed Abdulrahman AL-Abdulla presented his credentials to the president at the Bangabhaban yesterday.

Recalling the excellent friendly bilateral relations between the two countries, Iajuddin hoped that Bangladesh-Qatar relations would be developed further in future.

"Both the countries can consolidate the friendly relations through further economic cooperation," the president said.

Terming Bangladesh as a good friend of Qatar, the ambassador hoped that the friendly relations would be diversified in future.

He said that many Bangladeshi workers have been employed in Qatar. He also mentioned that both Bangladesh and Qatar have been working for international peace and development.

Earlier, on his arrival at the Bangabhaban, the ambassador was given a guard of honour by the President's Guard Regiment. He took salute and inspected the parade.
