Clash over land leaves 40 hurt in Sunamganj


At least 40 people were injured in a clash between two rival groups over a piece of land at Digarkandi village in Sadar upazila yesterday.

Police said the clash erupted at about 9:00am when the claim of one Siddique Ali on the land adjacent to a mazar was dismissed by the village arbitrators.

Nineteen of the injured were admitted to Sadar Hospital. They are Abbas, Razzak Ali, Akbar, Shams Mia, Khalil, Asad, Abdul Haq, Sikandar, Nurul, Noor, Foyezul, Babul, Nurul Islam, Anwar, Mukit, Ashak Ali, Monnaf and Gayas Ali.
