Drama festival

The play, Raktokarobi by Rabindranah Tagore, centers around a materialistic world, called 'Jaggapuri' (sacrificial ground) where there is only wealth and no touch of humanity. The leviathan king of that place, according to mythology is Makar Raj, but the playwright calls him Kuber. In the play we find a conflict between the spirit of life and materialism. Ataur Rahman is the director of the play. Md. Saiul Islam is the set designer whereas Nasirul Haque is the light designer. Nagorik Natya Sampradaya will stage Raktokarobi at 7:00 p.m. at he Public Library Auditorium .

Dandik, a theatrical group from Hawra in Kolkata, recently visited Dhaka to take part in the drama festival arranged by Nagorik Natyagon. So far we have won many awards in Kolkata. The group was established by late Achinta Chawdhuri, my elder brother, in 1968. There are 32 regular members in our group. So far we have staged 13 plays and 4 short plays.'

In theatre, he is a follower of Russian Staneslavoski but he considers Utpal Datta as his ideal.
