Admission tests in govt schools Jan 10-14
Forms available till January 7


The 24 government schools in the city will hold admission tests between January 10 and 14.

Distribution of admission forms, which began on Saturday, will continue till January 7.

Divided into three groups of eight schools each, the admission tests under 'ka' group will be held on January 10, 'kha' on January 12 and 'ga' on January 14.

Tk 60 is being charged for each form for admission to any class from one to nine.

The total marks for any examination will be 100. For classes one and two, the students will have to sit for Bangla and English tests having 50 marks in each subject. From class three onwards it will be 30 marks for Bangla, 30 for English and 40 for Mathematics.

Though the schools themselves will prepare the questions, take tests or examine the answer scripts, officials of the education, department will supervise the entire admission process.

Besides the government schools there are more than 100 private schools in the city. But among them only 8-10 are of repute. The low and middle-income groups generally target the government schools, as they are mostly dependable and also less expensive.

The government-run schools in the city include Dhaka Government Laboratory School, Dhanmondi Government Boys' High School, Motijheel Government High School, Tejgaon Government Girls' High School, Armanitola Government High School, Dhaka Collegiate High School, Dhaka Government Muslim High School, Khilgaon Government Colony High School, Nawabpur Government High School, Banglabazar Government Girls' High School, Sher-e-Bangla Government High School, Mohammadpur Government High School, Banglabazar Government Boys' High School, Gonobhaban Government Boy's High School, Gonobhaban Government High School, Islamia Government High School, Mirpur Government High School, Mirpur Government High School, Kamrunnesa Government Girl's High School and Dhanmondi Government Girls' High School.
