6 abducted persons freed in Khagrachhari

Kidnappers released six villagers at Eetchhari in Khagrachhari yesterday, eight days after their abduction.

The abductors forced the villagers of Gorgorshachhari under Khagrachhari Sadar upazila to walk through dense forest and freed them at about 1:30am, police said quoting the victims.

Earlier, 14 others among the 20 abductees were released on December 24, sources said.

On December 23, miscreants abducted 20 reported supporters of the United Peoples' Democratic Front, an anti-Chittagong Hill Tract peace accord forum.

However, Rupjoy Chakma, 45, and Suniti Ranjan Dewan, 43, who were kidnapped on December 25 from Durgamohon Karbari Para village of Kamalchhari upazila, were still missing.
