Abducted schoolboy rescued at Hathazari

A joint police team yesterday rescued a schoolboy, five days after he was abducted, from Hathazari in Chittagong and held three alleged kidnappers. Raiding Farhadabad area, Pahartali and Hathazari police recovered Rajin Iqbal Jonny, son of local businessman Mohammad Lokman, from Abdul Kader's residence at about 7:00am, police said. Police also nabbed Mohammad Belal, 25, Jahur Ahmed, 35, and Zahed Ahmed, 32, from the house for their alleged involvement in the kidnap. Belal confessed to his involvement in the crime, police added. Twelve-year-old Jonny, a class seven student of Kumira Residential School in Sitakunda, was abducted on January 3 morning at gunpoint from an audio shop in Pahartali area and the abductors demanded Tk 10 lakh ransom, sources said. A case was lodged with Pahartali Police Station.
