Singh, Khatabi in boys' final


Nav Deep Singh of India and Faris Khatabi of the United Kingdom moved into the boys' singles final of the BKSP International Junior Tennis Championship after winning their respective semifinals at the country's lone sports institute in Savar yesterday.

Singh had an easy 6-1, 6-2 sail over Chang Huai-En of Chinese Taipei while Khatabi had to sweat for his 6-7, 7-6, 6-0 win over Korean Lin Hyung Joon.

In the girls' semifinals, Indian Punam Reddy ousted Korean Baehae Toun 6-1, 6-3 while Korean Soon Min Sea defeated You Ting Leen of Chinese Taipei 6-2, 6-2.

Meanwhile, the boys' doubles semifinal line-up was completed yesterday. In the quarterfinals, Singh and Uzbekistan's She Gay beat Chinese Taipei duo Hsu Yi Che and Chang-Chien Lung 6-1, 6-2, while Indian Amrit Rupa Singh and his Sri Lankan partner Sivendran Nishendiran ambled past another Chinese Taipei pair of Shin En Chang and Chun Jen Tsai 6-3, 6-2.
