Rani leads


International Women Master Rani Hamid took a solo lead in the Igloo 25th National Women's Chess Championship yesterday with a win against Narayanganj's Kishowar Sajrin Ivana in the fourth round.

With that win, Rani, country's lone IWM, collected maximum four points, a point clear from Shabana Parveen Nipa, who however has a match in hand.

In the day's other matches, Nazrana Khan Iva drew with Chittagong's Tanima Parveen while Zakia Sultana of Ansars shared point with Barisal's Masuda Begum.

Points: 4 Rani; 3 Nipa (3 matches) and Iva; 2.5 points Simmi, Masuda; 2 Nupur; 1.5 Liza, Zakia; 1 Tanima and Ivana.

The fifth round starts at the NSC chess room today at 3 pm.
