Tk 1 cr medicines seized at ZIA

Customs officials yesterday seized a huge quantity of contraband medicines along with other commodities said to be worth over Tk 1 crore from the air freight unit in Zia International Airport (ZIA).Customs officials said the medicines and other commodities contained in 23 cartoons reached the airport from Singapore and Dubai in separate flights a couple of days ago in seven consignments. Acting on a tip off, on-duty customs officials scanned the cartoons and found the lot. The officials said they asked Biman authorities for the airway bills of the goods to identify their owner.
